Minatures and Small Paintings

Miniature Paintings are just what you might think them to be, paintings done on a small scale. Although there isn't a universally recognized standard size or scale for miniatures, it seems only common sense that the subject matter be presented on a very small scale. Some examples are the miniature portraits seen on coins, medals and the cameo portraits once worn on a chain and locket. All of the sizes given here are for the image area only, not the overall paper or canvas size.
